Rain chains are an
excellent way to add elegance to your home exterior. Essentially rain chains do
what closed downspouts do - guide water from a gutter down to a basin, rain
barrel, or onto the ground below. The Japanese have been using rain chains for hundreds
of years as a means of collecting useable water, but also as beautiful
ornaments to adorn their homes and temples.
Typically crafted
from solid copper, rain chains come in numerous lengths and styles, including
cup- and flower-shaped designs. A rain chain can be easily attached to a gutter
or hung from a corner eave of your home where it will make soothing sounds as water
trickles and flows through.
