Corinthian Wind Chimes

Corinthian Wind Chimes

The heritage of ancient Greece is still celebrated today - Homer's masterful works, the Olympics, scads of visual art, and, of course, the ornate flair of classical Greek architecture. Adding a bit of Greek style to your home doesn't require the incorporation of excavated columns, however; it's really as easy - and as magical-as hanging a Corinthian chime from the bows.

Ringing the Changes

Corinthian chimes are also known as Aeolian chimes, which is fitting-Aeolus was the Greek god of wind. These striking wind chimes comprise of a number of hollow or solid tubes of varying lengths, diameters and metals; the tubes are suspended in a circle from a disk, and a clapper, which can be of varied sizes and materials, too, hangs in the middle of the tubes. As the wind moves the clapper, it strikes different tubes, usually at the center of each, to produce different tones.

Wind chimes can be made from a variety of materials including bamboo, stones, PVC piping, glass and seashells. The chime pipes- material and thickness determine the tone, and every material makes a different sound. Corinthian wind chimes, thanks to their design, produce rich, clear tones, and are generally considered the most melodic of chimes.

The Bells Toll

Corinthian Bells manufactures Corinthian wind chimes that are both beautifully resonant and visually stunning. Corinthian Bells have the same construction as any Corinthian wind chime, but they are quite large, with tubes ranging from 29 to 74 inches. Many are also hand-tuned to a particular melodic scale, and they come in a range of lovely colors. Corinthian Bells are individually hand-crafted and hand-tuned right here in the United States. They have a powder-coated aluminum finish.
